In Matosinhos Beach, just 20 minutes away from Porto, the instructors of Detours Porto are waiting you to teach you the great sport of surf. Portugal has one of the best beaches of Europe to surf and the beaches close to Porto are perfect specially for surf begginers. Matosinhos beach is the longest beach in the city, whose golden sand extends through the north shore from the Duero estuary up to the west boarding with the Atlantic Ocean. It is surrounded by a fishing port and Fort of Castelo de Queijo.
For your surfing lesson in Porto, you will meet your instructor in Matosinhos Beach or if you prefer it, he will pick you up at your accommodation. Once in the beach and after puting on the wetsuit and taking your board, your experience will start! First you will receive a safety briefing and a demonstration of the basic moves you need to know to achieve success on the beach. After, it will be the moment to practice all this in the water during 3 hours. You can choose between a surfing private lesson yourself or with your family and friends or a group lesson. Furthermore, the instructor will adapt the surfing lesson to the fitness level of the guests. At the end of the activity, you can choose between grabbing a transfer back to city center or just staying at the beach relaxing! If your activity is during the morning we strongly advise you to hang around the fish restaurants of Matosinhos (walking distance from the surf lesson spot) and try their wonderful fish dishes!
