Cagliari: What to do when you get there ?

Where is it?
Cagliari is situated in the southern part of Sardinia and it is the capital of the island. It’s a metropolitan city of 430.000 inhabitants blessed by paradisiac sea and beaches. You can easily reach Cagliari by plane or by ferry boat. Once there it is recommendable to rent a car or an independent vehicle to explore freely the incredible surroundings. The area surrounding Cagliari benefits from natural heterogeneous landscape, combining Caribbean sandy beaches to rocky cliffs, green hills and arid backcountry.

Kitesurfing and Windsurfing
The south part of Sardinia offers an outstanding variety of beaches which present ideal condition to practice kitesurfing, windsurfing, sup and other water sports.

La Maddalena beach. The closest authorized kite zone near Cagliari. The spot is suitable all year and happen to be very crowded.

Poetto – Cagliari. Poetto is one of Italy’s most ample beach extending for over 8 kilometers of sand and crystal waters. Due to the many tourists the spot is available for kitesurfing and windsurfing mainly during the winter time. It works with the winds Scirocco and Libeccio, respectively on shore and side on. Wind range: 10 – 30 knots, wavy.

Chia. A paradisiac wide sandy beach which works pretty with all winds. The water here is limpid turquoise. The spot is accessible all year long.

Costa Rei. Renown for its beautiful beaches and crystal water offers many different wavy kite spots. It is a perfect spot during the winter, because during summer it might be too crowded due to the many tourists.

Punta Trettu - Sant'Antioco. A great lagoon characterised by flat and shallow water. It is a perfect spot to learn safely with all conditions and directions.

Villasimius. An enchanted location in the southeastern part of the island, famous for Capo Carbonara National Marine Park. It’s mainly a winter spot due to the many tourists during summers.

Water activities
Clean waters and protected areas can offer you a huge variety of sea life to visit by scuba diving, snorkeling or freediving.

Land activities
As an alternative you can explore the coast line and the backcountry by doing mountain bike or trek excursions to Capo Carbonara.
