Bora Bora: What to do when you get there ?

Discover the activities to do in Bora Bora! Who has never thought of spending a few days in Bora Bora, while staying in one of the bungalows on stilts overlooking the lagoon? This volcanic island has always made many dream, and for good reason...

Located in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, Bora Bora is part of the French Polynesia islands, and more particularly of the Society archipelago, just like Tahiti and Moorea. The main town, Vaitāpē, is located on the west coast, between the lagoon and Mount Pahia, behind which is the island's highest point, Mount Otemanu. Although there are a good number of large hotels such as the InterContinental, the Four Seasons, the Pearl or the Conrad, their presence fits in the beautiful landscape of the atoll with its tropical climate.

Bora Bora being a former American military base during World War II, several vestiges remain from that time, including the airport runway.

Be prepared to receive your famous flower necklace to welcome you upon arrival.

Known worldwide for its contrasting colors of greenery, beaches and turquoise waters, there is no shortage of things to do in Bora Bora. Known as the "Pearl of the Pacific", you can visit pearl farms before enjoying a swim in the lagoon, then taste local specialties such as raw fish Tahitian style, chicken fafa, or coconut bread for snack. A stop at the famous Bloody Mary's restaurant is recommended for a real immersion in Polynesian culture. Let's not forget the local beer, Hinano, to be sipped preferably on one of the paradisiacal beaches lined with palm trees: Matira Beach, which is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, will be perfect for this. Don't forget one of Bora Bora's must-do activities: watching a beautiful sunset, and then gazing at the stars in the clear Pacific Ocean sky.

Known as a luxury destination, one might think that the thing to do in Bora Bora is to take a nap on the beach, with your toes in the air... And yet, the island is full of all kinds of activities to discover, without stress.

With its magnificent lagoon, there is no shortage of water activities: sea excursions on a glass-bottom boat, in a pirogue, also known as a va'a in Polynesian, windsurfing or jet skiing, aquatic excursions with a simple mask and snorkel for snorkeling or with diving equipment for a more in-depth excursion, paddleboarding on the calm waters of the lagoon, but also the search for sensations by surfing, wakeboarding or kitesurfing. Excursions to see the marine life are obviously a must for a stay in Bora Bora: between many species of rays, turtles, sharks and whales, you have the embarrassment of choice.

And even if the island of Bora Bora is quite small, several land activities are also possible: it is possible to discover the land by hiking, but also by mountain bike, quad, and jeep.

To top it all off, if you have some time to spare, some aerial activities are proposed to offer you the best panoramas of the island from the sky: helicopter or seaplane flights, paragliding and parachute jumping will be perfect activities to take your best pictures of Bora Bora.

Whether it is for your honeymoon, a family vacation, a couple or friends, or for a solo trip, the island of Bora Bora is a dream spot. Between lazing around and outdoor activities, don't hesitate to leave your hotel to discover the island and its motu. Bora Bora is a small corner of paradise that has earned its reputation.

The whale watching was awesome. We unfortunately didn't get to see them in the water as they kept moving, but it was still awesome!
