Carve up Kilkee Bay with windsurfing lessons in County Clare!
Explore Ireland’s iconic Atlantic coastline with windsurfing lessons from Clare’s Kilkee Bay. A coastline of contrasts, it’s Duggerna Reef that makes this quaint seaside town such a hotspot for wild wind chasers and total beginners alike. Inside the natural sea defences, Kilkee is the perfect playground for practising your jibs and turns – whilst its rugged peninsular is where you can watch the pros as part of Red Bull’s Storm Chasers Challenge!
This activity takes place on Kilkee Beach in County Clare. A seaside town on the west of Ireland, the horseshoe bay is protected from the Atlantic Ocean by the Duggerna Reef. Kilkee is midway between Kilrush and Doonbeg and 1 hour from the centre of Limerick.
Meet your instructor at the activity base for this windsurfing lesson on Kilkee Beach. Suitable for groups of friends and families alike, choose from an intro lesson or a full day course that is geared towards total beginners and improving intermediates alike. Whatever option you choose, each activity starts with a short ocean safety briefing, kit breakdown and warm up on the beach. After you’ve figured out the basics like stance, balance and board handling, you will head into the water – mastering downwind riding during the day. You’ll learn how to pull up the sail, balance on the board and tack into the wind– moving onto turns, water starts and even a few tricks if you’re feeling really confident! All rental is included in the price, so you can demo the latest kit, too!
This activity operated throughout the year with lessons organised according to age and ability – as well as weather factors like tides and winds. Depending on previous experience, beginner lessons operate in Kilkee Bay – whilst intermediates & advanced riders can try big swells and freeriding outside of Duggerna Reef.
