Céret: Aktivitäten, die man machen muss

Céret: Was machen, wenn man da ist?

Located at the foot of the Pyrenees and bordering with Spain, Céret is a municipality of the Eastern Pyrenees that has so much to offer and is charming in its own way. With its favourable climate and its historical and natural heritage, the city has a strong Catalan presence of medieval origin. Travellers are tempted to mix up their trip between culture and adventure.

Céret city offers a beautiful panorama of the Catalan architecture. It is also home for the famous Museum of Modern Art, which houses numerous paintings and sculptures by Picasso, as well as pictures of as many impressionist artists.

However, even with its rich culture and history, the city is also an ideal spot for mountain-related activities. With infinite mountains and streams that are born due to the Tech River, it has amazing gorges and channels.

One of the most visited spots is Pont du Diable (in English: Devil’s Bridge), a medieval stone arch bridge that was built between 1321 and 1341. The bridge spans the river Tech with an imposing single arch of 45.45 metres. Here is frequent to see people kayaking or rafting down the channels.

Canyoning is also a big sport around the city. With impressive mountains you’ll be surprised to know there are cool and crazy canyoning itineraries like Les Anelles or Mas Calsan. They never disappoint and will most definitely give you that adrenaline shot you’re looking for.

Downhill mountain biking and even paragliding around Pic du Canigou is an absolute must. The high mountain is one of the loveliest views of the city.
