Tromsø: Aktivitäten, die man machen muss

Tromsø: Was machen, wenn man da ist?

Nicknamed "The Paris of the North", the city of Tromsø is located in northern Norway. It is a major cultural center above the Arctic Circle world-famous for its gigantic arctic cathedral with its pointed roof.

Tromsø is above all a well-known observation point for admiring the famous northern lights that illuminate the night sky. Its city center is located on the east coast of Tromsøya Island 300 km from the Arctic Circle.

Tromsø is the most northerly city with over 50,000 inhabitants in the world. The gateway to Svalbard and especially the starting point for the largest polar expeditions to the boreal regions. The climate is subarctic with a fairly cold winter and a very short summer. The sun does not go down all the way between the months of May and August because it does not go down below the horizon to really make it dark enough.

The best time to visit is between December and March to admire the aurora borealis and practice the many activities. And even if this Arctic city enjoys a cold climate all year, the temperature rarely drops below -5° C.

Whether it's whale watching from a sailboat, dog sledding (or reindeer sled) or a snowmobile tour, thrill-seekers do not miss the winter here. If you prefer quieter activities, you can always book a snowshoe hike or a ski descent. And in summer, you can also enjoy the lush landscapes of the Arctic Laplands with a beautiful sea kayak.
