Activity description

This breath-taking tour is the perfect combination between adventure and culture. The 291km/312km journey through the Inca trail will allow you to learn more about the culture of this ancient civilization. You will reach the very top of the Altiplano, the second highest mountain plateau in the world (after Tibet).

During the 9 day excursion, you’ll be immersed in the astounding land of the Incas, while getting in touch with the nature that surrounds the trail. Discover the vast history and the ancient edifications of the ancestors of South America.

Itinerary 

Day 1 Saturday
· Arrival at Salta
· Check-in at hotel in Chicoana       

Day 2 Sunday
·
Total distance: 50km – dirt roads (optional 21km more)
· From Chicoana to Cachi
· Tour from Quebrada de Escoipe through Cuesta del Obispo (Bishop’s Slope) passing through Piedra del Molino,  Los colorados, to arrive in Cachi
· 230m of uphill ride
· 1390m of downhill ride
· One night at hostel in Cachi

Day 3 Monday

Total distance: 47km
· From Cachi to Seclantas
· 970m of uphill ride
· 1448m of downhill ride
· Arrival at Molinos

Day 4 Tuesday
·
Total distance: 38km
· Tour from Molinos to Colome Station and back to Molinos
· Tour of the wine cellar and James Turrell museum
· Colome Station is 2,250m over sea level

Day 5 Wednesday

Total distance: 36km
· From Molinos to Calchaqui Valley

Day 6 Thursday

Total distance: 60km
· From Agastaco passing through Quebrada de las Flechas arriving at Cafayate
· 550m of uphill ride
· 560m of downhill ride

Day 7 Friday

·
From Cafayete through Quebrada de las Conchas and going back to Cafayete
· Visit of “The Castles”
· 310m of uphill ride
· 540m of downhill ride 

Day 8 Saturday

Arriving by car to the Quilmes Ruins, Cuesta del infernillo (Hell’s pass),  Tafi del Valle, Altiplano & Tucuman
· Return to Buenos Aires (overnight drive)
