Grab the kids and enjoy this all-action day out in the shadow of the infamous Acherkogel mountain.
Piburger Gorge is located near the village of Oetz in the Ötztal Valley. In the heart of an alpine forest at 900 metres above sea level, this canyon system filters meltwater from the Alps to Piburger See Lake. Known in winter for its ski resort at Hochoetz, in summer Oetz can be accessed by mainline train or motorway from Innsbruck and the international airport that is only 45-minutes away.
Meet your instructor at the activity centre in Tarrenz for a 3.5h canyoning excursion in Piburger Gorge. A family-friendly adventure for children as young as 6 years old, this easy and accessible ravine at 900m channels whitewater from the alps into the Piburger See Lake. Walk to the start of the canyoning trail (5 min) outside the town of Oetz and try a range of natural slides and abseils as you navigate the canyon from source to freshwater lake. This fairytale canyon walk is a wild and endlessly fun experience with slippery slides and great abseiling, partly directly under waterfalls in the beautiful Ötztal Tyrol. A great entry-level canyon for the whole family, the off-terrain mountain trail will lead you back to the road where you will be transported back to the activity centre - enjoying a warm shower and snacks once you're done.
An easy an accessible gorge, the total duration in the canyon is one hour and has a total transfer time of 25 minutes. All jumps, abseils and slides can be avoided if necessary but strongly recommended:
Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Meeting point can be arranged in Oetz - to be organised directly with your instructor prior to activity date.
