Activity description

Appreciate the raw power of the Alps on this Xtreme canyoning excursion at Dollinger Gorge in the Tirol.

A stone's throw from the activity centre, this signature woodland canyon in Tarrenz is the perfect place to work on your rope skills or push your perceptions of canyoning on this all-action abseil course in the heart of the Austrian foothills. Offering the rappel nut more than 15 descents over unexpected terrain, learn how to improve your grip under the pressure of a freezing waterfall or just lean back and soak up the summer rays as they bounce off the open walls.

A woodland gorge in the heart of the Austrian forest, Dollinger canyon filters the meltwater from the Alps (Klammen bachl) on a 1km route near the small town or Tarrenz. An open canyon in the Tirol near Imst, most gorges and canyons are popular day trip destinations and accessible via walkways and steps. A specialised abseil canyon with over 15 descents, Tarrenz is a 30-minute drive from Innsbruck and accessible by mainline train via Ötztal.

Meet your instructor at the activity centre in Tarrenz for this Xtreme canyoning excursion at Dollinger Gorge in the Tirol. Suited to anyone +14 years old with adequate rappel/abseil experience, this open canyon in the middle of the Austrian woodland has 16 individual descents that navigate sheer rock faces, steeped gullies, slippery waterfalls and dramatic overhangs. A challenging course that focuses on technical rope skills and self-belay from fixed anchor points, this 5-hour course leads right back into Tarrenz where you can finish up with a warm shower and snacks.

A specially organised canyoning course that focuses on abseiling, there are no jumps and slides on this gorge walk - with technical rope work and abseiling the highlight. Duration in the canyon is 3 hours and the total transfer time is 10 minutes.
