Activity description

Prepare yourself for this canyoning adventure on a knife's edge with Xtreme canyoning at Kronburg Gorge in the Tirol.

Standing defiantly upon a sheer cliff face, the ruins of Kronburg Castle mark the start of a precipitous crag between Zams and Schönwies - kit up for the ultimate vertical challenge as you abseil deep into the heart of this infamous gorge on an Xtreme canyoning adventure that guarantees spell-binding views and belly-crunching drops into the unknown...

Location
Kronburg Gorge is located in the Northern Tirol of Landeck renowned for its 14th-century hilltop castles. The Kronburg waterfall and its namesake gorge can be explored on foot along the Kronburger Tobel circular path - canyoning is only permitted under the supervision of a guide due to its dangerous nature. Close to the holiday resort of Schönwies in the Bergwerkskopf mountains between Landeck and Imst, the canyon runs into the Inn river. A popular ski resort in winter, Zams is only an hour drive from Innsbruck and connected by mainline train and an international airport.

Activity
Meet your instructor at the activity centre in Tarrenz for this Xtreme canyoning excursion in Kronburg Gorge. A restricted gorge suitable for advanced canyoners or people with adequate rope skills, you must be at least 16 years old and have a serious head for heights to try this challenging adventure! A very narrow canyon that sinks 40m deep into the bedrock, solo abseil down waterfalls and luge into huge freshwater pools as you test your technique with an experienced guide. Both physically and mentally demanding, lean back and let the good times roll as you rappel down vertical cliff faces and fight the whitewater current as it races to join the Inn River! Easily reached from the road, once you have completed the 4.5-hour course you will return back to the activity centre by bus where you can enjoy a hot shower and snacks.
