Location
One of the deepest gorge systems in Europe, Auerklamm is a section of beautiful cascades near Sautens in the Otztal, Tirol (Austria). Renowned for its breathtaking jumps, rapid slides and high rappelling slopes under rushing waterfalls, it has four graded routes suited for all ages and abilities.
Activity
Meet your mountain guide at the activity base in Sautens for this canyoning adventure in Auerklamm Gorge. Organised according to previous experience and skill level, there are four separate routes to choose from – ranging in difficulty from family friendly to expert. Whatever adventure level you choose (upper/middle/lower) each excursion starts with a detailed safety briefing and kit check before you travel to the access point in the gorge. Depending on the canyoning tour you have chosen, you will follow your guide along a watercourse deep in the alpine woodland – abseiling down waterfalls, jumping off cliff walls and using your body as a toboggan to slide down rapids, too! A whitewater highway with lots of bumps and bends to navigate – some of the most challenging sections include a 40m rappel and a 15m freefall! A fun yet challenging day out that will have you scrambling, sliding, walking and swimming, trust your instincts as you trace the water from its source high in the mountains and out into the valley. On your return to the activity base, you’ll have time to change before farewell refreshments.
Conditions
A gorge suitable for all levels, the total duration in Auerklamm canyon ranges from 4-8 hours and is accessed by return shuttle from Sautens. All jumps, abseils and slides are mandatory, including:
