Activity description

The rugged coast of the island of Sao Miguel in the archipelago of Azores makes the perfect playground for Fun Activities Azores amazing coasteering trips!

It cannot be denied that the Azores have a plethora of outdoor activities to offer, and Sao Miguel Island, being the biggest of them all, will absolutely charm you!

Coasteering is an outdoor sport that can be compared to canyoning. Although instead of making your way down a canyon with the help of ropes, shimmering, sliding and jumping, you'll explore the cliff right above the sea! A totally thrilling activity that will give a refreshing and adrenaline-inducing experience.

Exploring the beautiful coastline of São Miguel on a coasteering activity will allow you discover all the nooks and crannies of the cliffs. If you have never experienced this before you can still join, this activity is open to all!

After meeting with your guide, you'll get geared up: helmet, life vest, and wetsuit will be provided to you. Then you'll make your way to one of the three different coasteering areas that will be chosen depending on the weather conditions. Regardless which one you'll choose, you'll hike, shimmer, jump, and swim your way along the coastline!

The coasteering spots:
Caloura: central south part of the island, 20 min. drive from Ponta Delgada
Ribeirinha: central north part of the island in Ribeira Grande, 20 min. drive from Ponta Delgada
Porto Formoso: central north part of the island, 30 min. drive from Ponta Delgada
