Activity description

Aqua-Marine has a selected dive sites of differing depths and difficulty levels in order to to suit everybody. Due to the volcanic formations of the island there are many striking geological features to enjoy, from towering columns of basalt rock (think: Ireland’s Giant’s Causeway) to caves formed by rapidly cooling lava or pockets of gas.

For certified divers only!

Other areas provide sheltered sandy bottoms in which you may enjoy diving with turtles, giant stingrays and angel sharks, a species which is globally under significant threat but which Tenerife is lucky enough to see frequently in its waters.

On a normal day, Aqua-Marine goes diving twice a day, yet you always have the option of a third dive in the afternoon or a night diving excursion under request.

Their dive boat is a 7.5 meter RIB, permanently based at Los Cristianos marina. Each dive stars disembark the boat at the popular beach of Playa las Vistas right next to the chiringuito (beach-bar) Atlantico. This chiringito provides the perfect place to relax and enjoy a coffee in-between dives. Occasionally, you can take shore dives along the coast allowing you to access dive sites out of the range of the boats, such as the beautiful wreck in Tabaiba, near Santa Cruz..

Pick ups are available in the mornings between 08.00 and 09.00, depending on the location and their pick up schedule on any given day, from Callao Salvaje on the West coast to El Medano on the East coast. Divers may have to wait until they close for a drop off.

Tenerife Diving Sites
El Condesito
Depth: 6-20 metres/ 30 metres+
The Condesito, a freighter carrying cement for the construction of Los Cristianos, was wrecked on the shoreline near Punta Rasca in late 1971. No lives were lost.

Decades later, and although the wreck is disintegrating, life here continues to thrive. You can expect to see huge trumpet fish, octopus, cuttlefish, barracuda and many more. Situated in a sheltered bay, this site offers a great diving experience for beginners and more seasoned divers alike! The fingers of lava either side of the wreck are also worth exploring. A great spot for snorkelers too.

Barranco del Aqua
Depth: 30 metres+
A deep dive with tantalizing drop-offs, this is a fix for any deep diving junkie. Sometimes you can get a strong current there, so this is for experienced divers only.

As you descend you'll be greeted by large grouper lazily mooching around in the overhangs. Peering over the drop off, you will see black coral with the appearance of Christmas trees sprouting from the rocks. Then, you can come across a prominent pinnacle, base camp for a swarm of barracuda. Following the underwater gorge, you may be passed by stingrays and schools of sardines.

El Puertito
Depth: 12 metres
For years Puertito has been a very popular dive and snorkel location due to a family of resident turtles who were reliably found here. Unfortunately, over time the area became a victim of it’s own success as the bay became increasingly busy with people all looking for their chance to play with them. The turtles suffered injuries and became ill as a result of all of the attention.

As a sheltered bay with a sandy bottom at 12 metres Puertito is still a good location for making training dives – and the chance of an encounter with an inquisitive turtle is certainly always welcome.

Palm Mar Cave
Depth: 18-40 metres
From an anchorage in 16m, first you make your way down a wall where you'll find many varieties of Morays hiding in the cracks. At the end of the wall you'll cross over the sand to some magnificent pinnacles that you can weave your way around, paying your respect to the Virgin del Carmen statue that was laid in 32m for the protection of both divers and fishermen of the island. Looking across from here you will see a carpet of garden eels.

As you make your way into 28 meters you will be at the cave entrance. However this is not to be fully penetrated due to it leading into a maze of lava tunnels. A small cross at the entrance is a grim reminder of those who went in and never came back out. The mouth of the cave has enough to keep you occupied however as it is teeming with shrimp and it is not unusual to see rays or angel sharks asleep in the sand. A favorite among those qualified for deep diving.

Palm Mar Wall
Depth: 6-26 metres
By far the most popular site you can visit at the moment thanks to the very friendly and inquisitive bull rays, roughtail stingrays and huge school of roncador fish which live here, it is  also common to also see turtles all year round and angle sharks lurking in the sand throughout the winter months.

You can always be on the look-out for dolphins who take advantage of easy meal opportunities at the nearby fish farms.

There is a huge amount of spots that you can ask for!

Geweldig goed georganiseerde duiken. Zeer professionele aanpak en een zeer rustige aanpak, je voelt je onmiddellijk thuis.
