Fitenia Escuela de Surf has created a great surfing teaching method that will guarantee you'll learn how to surf. Being the first surfing school on the island guarantees their lessons and courses are great!
During your training, you'll learn every single thing you need to know so you can become part of the surfing community; surf is more of a lifestyle than a sport. You'll learn from scratch how to ride a wave and depending on the length of your formations, you'll improve until becoming an independent surfer.
Playa de Almáciga is Taganana most popular surfing beach and one of the spots where you'll be able to learn how to ride the tide. The beach of Almáciga is made of black volcanic sand. The beach breaks creates both left and right-handers, yet the right is the most common and gets the name La Derecha de Almaciga (Almaciga's Right).
The contents of the course:
- Culture, history, and rules of surfing.
- Understanding weather conditions, currents, wave formation and safe zones
- Warm-ups and stretching specific to surf.
- Standing up technique, paddling and riding foam waves.
