Kite & Tonic school’s method is safe and extremely effective, but also relaxed and pleasant for learning to kitesurf in Sal Island, Cape Verde.
The professional instructors will make sure you will be on the water in no time! They have a safe and extremely effective, but also relaxed and pleasant method to teach kitesurfing. The lessons take place with a maximum of 2 students per instructor for more safety and progress.
The school is located in front of the Riu Hotel, a 20-minute walk from the centre of Santa Maria, southern Sal. The beach benefits from crystal clear water, white sand, and no rocks - the dream of every kiter! The wind direction is side-shore, side-offshore and sometimes side-onshore which ensures butter flat water... Perfect for freestyle or big air!
1. Introduction (3hr group or 2hr private)
This lesson is divided into 50% beach training and 50% body-drag in the water (surfing on your belly through the water with the power of the kite). At first, you'll learn basic kite-control on the beach. After the beach training, you'll continue in the water to learn how to body-drag, preparing you for the board in lesson 2. Your IKO-certified instructor will join you in the water to make it safer and to progress much faster. He will make sure you feel comfortable and self-confident.
2. Body-drag and water-start (2hr)
To gain full control over your kite, this lesson starts with a body-drag. Then, it's time to add a board and start learning to kitesurf. Again the teacher will join you in the water to teach you the basics of a water-start. Hopefully, you will perform your first rides here.
3. Sailing towards the horizon (2hr)
You've made the first meters. Now it's time to practice! The coach will be in the boat right behind you to give you tips and instructions while you have the entire ocean to yourself. He will then pick you up and drive back upwind. You can then have a rest and a sneak peek at flying fish and turtles.
Enjoy the wind through your hair. How many meters you will sail? Enjoy kitesurfing!
