The Catalina Islands, just offshore from the town that shares the name is one of Costa Rica's most popular scuba diving spots! There, you'll be able to experience the underwater world and gain the necessary skills to explore it!
One of the advantages of Costa Rica is its tropical weather all year round, which makes it the perfect destination for scuba diving. On the Pacific coast, you'll find the seaside town of Las Catalinas where you'll meet Scuba Dive Costa Rica's team for your PADI Open Water course.
After having experienced a try dive or a Discover Scuba Diving course, you should follow your path into becoming a member of the international community of scuba divers. The PADI Open Water course gives you the necessary theoretical knowledge and skills so you can scuba dive using the buddy system without supervision.
This course takes 3 days on average to complete. Your first half day will take place in swimming pool where you'll learn and put in practice breathing underwater, communication techniques, equalizing, among others. The next 2 days will allow you have 4 dives in open water. The Catalina Islands are a scuba diver's paradise with indigo blue waters will a plethora of species living there. Manta ray spotting is not unusual and even reef sharks have been seen there!
All participants must be able to swim. Minors must have authorization from their parents
Please note you are not allowed to fly for up to 24 hours after your last dive.
