Serious scuba divers visit Costa Rica every year because of its amazing scuba diving spots. Islas Murcielago (aka Bat Island) is among those amazing underwater landscapes reserved only to experience scuba divers who are looking for more! This archipelago is located on Murcielago Bay just offshore from Santa Rosa National Park in northern Costa Rica, yet you will meet Scuba Diving Costa Rica's team in Tamarindo.
At Islas Murcielago, you'll explore the spot known as The Big Scare, home to bull sharks and giant Pacific manta rays! Other amazing sea creatures can be found there, yet the bull sharks always steal the show and are the reason why divers visit this area.
In summer, the water has a deep blue shade with amazing visibility and a nice warm temperature which makes it perfect for scuba diving. The diving site requires you to have some experience in scuba diving like having a PADI Advanced Open Water certification, for example, since you'll be diving in depths of up to 30 meters.

Bat Islands charters run for a fixed number of 6 diving guests. It is important that you let the crew know when you would like to dive at Bats as soon as possible so they line up the charter with other interested divers.Itinerary
Bat Islands charters depart at 6:30 am. from Tamarindo. The travel time is approx 1 hour and 30 mins. After the two dives, you'll return to Tamarindo at approximately 1:30 pm.
The maximum dive depths are 90ft/30m and our group sizes usually 2 PADI Professionals to 6 diving guests.Activity requirements
