Catch the Mistral and never look back with windsurfing courses in Omis.
Learn how to find your edge and windsurf on one of the best beaches in Croatia on this windsurfing course on the Dalmatian coast. The perfect place to master the basics or pick up the pace, the Omis Riviera is renowned for its flat, shallow sea and powerful Mistral wind that rips up the Mediterranean coast.
Only 20 km from Split, this windsurfing camp takes place on Omis beach near the Galeb camp site – a protected beach with sea defences and a shallow, sandy bottom bay. Neighbouring the Cetina channel, Resnik Airport is a 50-minute drive.
Meet your instructor at the activity base on Omis beach for this windsurfing course. Organised according to age and ability, choose from either a 3-hour, 5-hour or 10-hour package that is suited to total beginners with no previous experience. A lesson plan that can be split up over several days, each course starts on a Sunday and is catered to your level – taking you from the beach to downwind riding during the syllabus. Combining theoretical knowledge and hands-on learning, start on the sand with an introduction to the sail, board and mast, an ocean safety briefing and practising your startup sequence. You’ll learn how to pull up the sail, balance on the board and tack into the wind – moving onto turns, water starts and even a few tricks if you’re feeling really confident! All rental is included in the price, so you can demo the latest kit, too!
Omis and neighbouring Ruskamen are considered some of the best windsurfing destinations in Croatia due to the consistent Mediterranean winds and the presence of the Mistral that blows parallel to the shore - allowing for flat water and stable learning conditions during summer.
