Activity description

Descend a giant abseil of 180 meters from the Autridge lookout in the Ardeche Gorges with the instructors of Base Canyon de la Besorgues!

Located in the heart of the National Nature Reserve of the Ardeche Gorges near Vallon-Pont-d'Arc, the Autridge rock overlooks the Ardeche river from 230 meters high! A real natural French jewel, the Ardeche gorges are full of breathtaking natural and wild green landscapes. A unique activity to do in the Ardèche region, the giant abseiling from the Autridge lookout is exclusively proposed by the Base Canyon de la Besorgues!

After a five minute approach walk, and a briefing from your qualified climbing instructor on the activity, the equipment and the safety rules, enjoy 180 meters of emptiness to abseil down in the Gorges de l'Ardèche! You will descend in groups of 5 people maximum, with a comfortable harness at your disposal to double the harness. At the end of this descent, you will reach a ledge 60 m above the Ardeche river from where you will follow a steep path back to the parking lot. The ascent is very sportive because it is a walk in varied terrain.

Course of events

- Meeting point at the Belvédère d'Autridge, 07700 Saint-Remèze.
- Equipment set up by your instructor.
- Approach walk to the cliffs.
- Briefing by your instructor on the activity, the equipment and the safety rules.
- Abseiling a few meters to reach the belay.
- Abseiling of 180 meters.
- 15 minute walk back to the meeting point.

Activity requirements

It is imperative to be in good physical condition and not to suffer from asthma to do this activity.
