Experience a survival course in the Landes de Gascogne, south of Bordeaux, for 2 days!

A total immersion in harmony with nature awaits you in the pine forest of the Landes de Gascogne during this survival course near Bordeaux. Supervised by Denis Tribaudeau or one of the members of his team, the aim of this 2-day course is to enable you to acquire the essential concepts of survival, as well as the correct methods and gestures to adopt during your outings in the great outdoors.

In a gentle, friendly and fun atmosphere, you will learn to prioritise your actions, learn the basic rules of life in the wild, have the right reflexes in the event of a survival situation or unforeseen circumstances, and manage an emergency situation. You will also learn how to set up a bivouac quickly with a minimum of equipment so that you can spend the night in complete safety, how to prepare your backpack properly so that you are not caught unprepared and how to take only the essentials for an outing in the great outdoors. You will be taught all the fundamental techniques on this survival course in the Landes de Gascogne so that you can gain confidence and independence!

Other things like making a fire, filtering your water or finding your bearings using a map, a compass and the sun will be taught to you so that this survival course near Bordeaux teaches you as much as possible!

Course with a programme suitable for children aged 8 and over

Course of events

Day 1

- 9.30 a.m. Welcome participants at the meeting point and briefing on the course, as well as the essentials for avoiding a survival situation

- 10.15 a.m. Start of the hike, with picking and gathering of edible plants, observation of the environment (fauna, flora, geography) and finding and storing water

- 12 p.m. Arrival at the bivouac site: demonstration of how to make a fire without a lighter and application of the method, with awareness of the dangers of fire in the wild and a reminder of the law

- 2 p.m. Construction of huts using only dead wood, creation of traps (reminder of the law) and raising awareness of the need to protect nature

- 8 p.m. Preparation of the trapper's meal using the day's gleanings, flour and salt, then sharing of impressions of the day

- 9 p.m. Evening meal around the fire, followed by a night walk in the forest to observe the animals and read the stars

- 11 p.m. Sleep in the shelters

Day 2

- 8 a.m. Wake up, set the traps, light the fire again, have breakfast and share your impressions of the night

- 10 a.m. First aid awareness with demonstration of how to make a stretcher and how to use it

- 11 a.m. Dismantling of the shelters and thorough cleaning of the bivouac area

- 11.30 a.m. Orienteering workshop with map and compass: orientation with the sun, topography, etc. and independent orienteering (without your survival trainer)

- 1 p.m. Return to the starting point with a short activity or workshop on arrival, depending on the weather and the children's wishes, then a chance to share your impressions of the past 2 days, taking into account any comments and possible improvements, and finally a snack

- 5 p.m. End of the course

- a sleeping bag
- hiking clothing (walking shoes, trousers, fleece)
- a change of socks
- rain clothing, a pair of gloves, a cap
- a flask filled with water
- a bowl, a spoon and a glass (preferably metal)
- a headlamp
- a pair of sunglasses, a hat
- a knife
- soap and a towel
- a garbage bag

Cameras, GoPro and SIM-free phones are permitted.

- 8 p.m. Meal made up of the day's harvest and sharing of impressions of the day before setting off for a short night hike

- 11 p.m. Sleep in the shelters

Day 2

- 8 a.m. Wake up, set the traps, relight the fire, have breakfast and share your impressions of the night before an introduction to first aid and transporting an injured person.

- 12 p.m. Departure, dismantling of the shelters and cleaning of the bivouac area with environmental awareness, then orientation walk with map reading, sun orientation, topography and compass

- 2 p.m. Return to the starting point, debriefing of the last 2 days, taking into account the feedback received and going into more detail on certain points

- 5 p.m. End of the course
