Activity description
Are you a fan of extreme sports and are now looking for your next adventure? Well you’ve come to the right place! The highest point of the Viaduct of Recoumène is 65 metres and that’s exactly where you’re going to bungee jump from! Get ready to experience a huge rush of adrenaline!
Bungee jumping into the void is a feeling like no other and when your heart feels like it’s going to jump out of your throat, you have no choice but to scream! The only thing guaranteed is that once you’ve finished, you’ll want to start all over again.
The team of Oxygene 40 will be with you every step of the way, ensuring your safety and security throughout the bungee jump. They’ll make sure you’re wearing your harness properly and that your rope and carabiners are attached correctly. Let’s not forget about your security rope – it’s always reassuring to know there’s double security.
Then it’s the moment of truth. Your instructor will be there to guide and encourage you and when you’re ready, you JUMP! You’ll hurtle down head first, living the most intense moment of your life. You’ll bounce on the rope a few times, after which your instructor will help you get down. That’s another adventure ticked off your bucket list.
The Viaduct of Recoumène
The viaduct is located in the Haute-Loire department, in the south of Saint Etienne and 90 minutes from Lyon or Clermont-Ferrand. It is 65 metres high and 270 metres long with 8 arches and is surrounded by an abundance of lush greenery. Situated 20 km from Puy en Velay, in the commune of Monastier sur Gazeille, the spot welcomes over 50.000 visitors a year.
The equipment
The bungee gear will be attached to your feet and is made up of a harness that has 2 shin guards that are attached to the elastic and a security rope. The carabiners are made from steel and the ropes are 11mm thick. Each piece of equipment is regularly checked and there is a technical document that can be accessed upon request.
The elastic is made up of about 960 threads of natural multi-fibre latex, calibre 20/22 that is checked electronically. Each elastic is studied and used for specific jumps, depending on the weight of the jumper and the height of the jump. Each elastic can execute up to 150 jumps.
