Activity Snapshot
Activity description
Paddle wild and free along the diverse waterway that connects the Andelle and its iconic cousin with whitewater kayaking trips towards the Seine river system.
Combining Normandy's cultural heritage with a challenging all-or-nothing experience, Authentik Aventure and their team of river guides organise personalised kayaking trips on the Andelle - offering a choice of half-day routes that visit iconic architecture on family tours or tackle graded rapids on funboating excursions.
Location
A skinny river on the outskirts of Rouen, Fleury-sur-Andelle and Romilly-Saint-Andelle are both popular launch sites that cross multi-category water passages on their way to join the Seine. Excursions are punctuated by stunning ancient ruins that include the Fontaine Guérard Abbey, the Filature Levasseur mill and Pont-Saint-Pierre castle.
Activity
Organised according to previous experience and level, half-day kayaking trips on the Andelle are performed using one and two-seater sit-on-top kayaks for touring excursions, teaching basic paddling techniques, seated control and water games! Closed top funboats with spray decks are used for more technical freestyle or whitewater based routes, offering chances to perfect your rolls and wet exits...
Conditions
Navigating 8-12km of flat water and faster passages, water heights reach 45 cm during the winter months with currents increasing with water flow. Although challenging in certain sections, the Andelle is suited to novice paddlers and rapid experts alike.
