Activity description

Would you like to try off-piste skiing in one of the largest off-piste areas in Europe? With Snowlegend, discover backcountry skiing with your family or your friends!

Come and live a unique freeride experience in La Grave - La Meije. With Snowlegend, you will slide in this legendary area with your children in complete safety and confidence.

You will learn off-piste techniques with fun exercises. The guides have developed a personalized and progressive pedagogical approach related to safety and technique to facilitate learning with children and beginners in general. As the hours go by, you will refine your technique and your knowledge of the snow, while having fun!

You will be supervised by a professional mountain guide (UIAGM) and ski instructor, who will take you on itineraries specially selected for you. Then share beautiful off-piste skiing descents with family or friends, and create unforgettable memories!

This outing is accessible for all those who wish to discover or progress in off-piste skiing. In any case, your Snowlegend guide and ski instructor will adapt to your level to make you discover in total safety the freeride area, its particularities, its history, its fauna.

So put on your skis and go on the snowy slopes of La Grave!

Offer Description

You can book several days that do not necessarily follow each other, and then organize with the guide.

Course of events

- Appointment between 8:00 am and 8:30 am (variable depending on weather conditions, itinerary and snow conditions)

- Meeting with your guide in music with a coffee, check of the safety equipment and gliding together.

- Equipment on site: Nightingale helmets, Dva-Element Barryvox, shovel, light probe, harness. (Possibility to rent avalanche airbag Mammut -18€/day- to reserve).

- Departure of the groups. Depending on the snow and weather conditions: different itineraries and choice of slopes are proposed between glaciers, couloirs, forest...

- Difference in altitude during the day from 4 to 12 000 meters. 2 to 7 rotations of pure happiness!

After your sessions, you can enjoy a moment of relaxation and fun with the guides and instructors back at their place. They offer you the Chartreuse aperitif while your belongings dry in the heated room with shoe dryer.

Many services are available on site such as massage (by appointment) with a specialist, sharpening, waxing at the Pro-shop...

Activity requirements

All participants must be very good skiers (comfortable on red to black slopes) and all children must be accompanied by an adult.

Special terms

Snowlegend shop offers the rental of freeride skis or snowboards adapted to the terrain of La Grave or avalanche airbags to the youngest ones or if they are already well equipped to the parents.

The La Grave Snowlegend freeride shop, located in front of the La Meije glacier cable car, is committed to offering you the best choice of equipment in perfect condition, adapted to the magical slopes of La Meije and its snow conditions.

You will find a wide choice of freeride skis, cross-country skis, snowboards, splitboards and avalanche safety pack. Many of these references make you dream (as they are rare for rental). The skiman pays particular attention to the preparation of the edges, the sole and waxing according to the temperatures and the quality of the snow. Boots and helmets are dried and sanitized after each return of rental. The avalanche air bags are checked before each outing as well as the DVAs.

- Lunch is to be foreseen at the Refuge de Chancel at 2508m, or at the restaurant D'en Haut at 3200m or in the village at 1450m depending on the itinerary! Very good value for money.

- For lift passes, count 47€ per day (Snowlegend rate). Reduced rate at 40€ for under 25 years old.

- Or : get your ski pass at the Glacier cable car of La Meije.

Possibility to book at preferential rates for skiing, snowboarding, ski touring, splitboarding.

They can adapt themselves to groups and speak English, French, Italian, German and Spanish.
