Activity description
Initiate yourself to the practice of canyoning in the Ossau Valley by participating in the descent of the Bious-Gabas canyon: 2.5 hours of discovery await you!
The Bious-Gabas canyon offers a playful descent in the heart of a stream surrounded by a beautiful beech forest, making it an ideal bucolic course to discover canyoning near Pau and Lourdes in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques. The progression in the canyon is made between walking sessions and aquatic sessions offering various obstacles specific to canyoning: jumps, slides, descents and abseils, the highest of which is about 8 meters.
With a state-qualified canyoning instructor at your side to guide you through the Bious-Gabas canyon and ensure your safety, you will progress at your own pace along the course, which lasts approximately 2.5 hours. You will have all the necessary canyoning equipment at your disposal (helmet, wetsuit and neoprene socks, harness, etc.), leaving you with only one thing to do: have fun!
If you want to have a great time with friends or family in the middle of nature, only 1 hour from Pau, this introduction to canyoning in the Bious-Gabas canyon is the ideal activity!

Course of events
- Meeting with the instructor at the EXPERIENCE Canyon base
- Briefing on equipment and safety
- Departure to the canyon with your own car (approx. 30 minutes drive)
- Gear up before starting the approach walk of about 20 minutes
- 2.5 hours canyon descent including a lunch break
- Return walk of 2 minutes, then de-equipping and end of the activity
Activity requirements
Knowing how to swim is compulsory for this activity.
