Activity description
Canoe rafting is an activity that approaches canoe techniques and requires no special technical knowledge. It's THE white water sport of the Ubaye valley and the Alps!
Advised, encouraged and supervised by a certified guide, you can face the river Ubaye solo in your boat, on an itinerary adapted to your level between Barcelonnette and Serre-Ponçon in the Alps.
The canoe raft is an inflatable and unsinkable boat, which you maneuver using a double paddle. You will soon be autonomous and free to explore every turns of the river.

Welcome to the most sporty river of France, the French canoeing championships river every 2 years!
A wild and isolated river, which runs are suitable for beginners as well as more experienced rafters: you have the choice between the discovery or sporty descent depending on your level and your desires!
The Ubaye is the most surprising of all the rivers of Europe.
- In spring, you will find a rapid river, sneaking around between the snow-capped mountains, bouncing from wave to wave.
- In summer it flows, crystal clear, in the middle of thousand colors from the fragrant flowers, but don't be fooled, a wave can always hide another!
The discovery itinerary is particularly suitable for all those who wish to discover white water sports.
You will discover the power of the river and learn to manage its turns with the help of your guide. You will face the rapids, swim in an invigorating water and flirt with rocks.
Along 6km (about 1,5 hours), you will enjoy the beautiful surroundings of the Valley and all its rapids (class III-IV).
Course of events
- Meeting with your instructor directly at the base
- Gearing up on site (changing rooms on site)
- Transportation by minibus to the banks of the river (5min)
- 1,5 hours of descent and return by bus to the base
Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Participants must know how to swim.
