Venture into the Polynesian jungle while trying your hand at canyoning in Moorea!
French Polynesia not only boasts heavenly beaches on the shores of turquoise lagoons, but also a tropical jungle well worth discovering! And there is nothing better than an introduction to canyoning in Moorea, starting from Afareaitu, in the south-east of the island.
Working alongside a local canyoning instructor, and equipped with all the necessary gear (helmet, wetsuit, harness and gloves), this discovery experience of canyoning in Moorea will take you to the heart of the tropical forest, on a course made up of abseils, short jumps of no more than 2 metres all bypassable, swimming sessions in pools and a natural slide. Once you have completed the course, you will enjoy a pleasant break over a Polynesian snack facing the Vaioro waterfall, a convivial moment to share with your guide and the other members of the group of no more than 8 participants!
Don't hesitate to leave the beach for half a day and take part in this unique canyoning activity in Moorea!
- Meeting with the instructor in the car park next to La Fringale
- Try on your equipment (helmet and wetsuit), with a briefing on the activity and safety instructions
- 35-minute approach walk to the starting point of the canyon
- Arrival at the first waterfall, with abseiling demonstration
- First abseil, followed by 5 other abseils, 2 jumps (2 metres and 1 metre, all bypassable), 5 swimming sessions in natural pools and 1 natural slide
- At the end of the descent, visit to the Vaioro waterfall with a Polynesian snack
- Return to the meeting point, de-equipment and end of the activity around 12 p.m.
Activity requirements
All participants must know how to swim and not be afraid of heights to take part in this activity.
Written parental authorisation is required for minors to participate in this activity without an accompanying adult.
A minimum number of 2 participants is required to run this activity.
Special terms
This activity is not accessible to pregnant people.
From May 2024 only - if required, the instructor can pick you up at your accommodation on Moorea and bring you back there at the end of the activity, for a minimum supplement of 2,000 xpf, variable according to the distance of your accommodation from the meeting point: please contact the instructor once your booking has been confirmed to organise the transfer.
