Go meet the humpback whales and dolphins of Tahiti equipped with fins, mask, and snorkel. An unforgettable snorkeling excursion awaits you!
Eleuthera diving center offers you the opportunity to meet the spinner dolphins who live in several colonies along the coast of Tahiti. And from early August to early November, you can also go to a mesmerizing encounter with humpback whales!
You will take the boat with your guide and your group for an approx. 3-hour boat excursion with the possibility to go underwater (snorkeling).
Excellent hunters, spinner dolphins (or long-nose dolphins) mainly eat fishes, crustaceans, and squids. They are very sociable and enjoy gathering in bands of 20 to 80 individuals. They are also able to jump out of the water, make spins and turn several times on itself!
Every morning, you can visit them in the Bay of Fishermen where they traditionally take their rest.
Humpback whale watching
The austral winter results in the arrival of humpback whales in Polynesian waters. They are the marine mammals with the largest migratory cycle in the animal world. Humpback whales come to enjoy the mild waters of Polynesia to mate, give birth and benefit from the temperate climate, far from the polar cold of the Antarctic.
NOTE: Meeting the whales and dolphins is not 100% guaranteed. Snorkeling is possible (but not guaranteed) to hear and observe them under water at a regular distance.
