Activity description

From August to November, come and admire the beautiful humpback whales off Tahiti during a half-day boat trip!

Every year, humpback whales come to French Polynesia from August to November to breed and give birth. This is the best time to take a boat trip from the Tahitian peninsula to observe them and learn more about them!

Tahiti Iti Diving organizes half-day trips to try to find the whales. It can take time to find them, as these marine mammals remain wild and are constantly on the move. But be patient! Generally, calves are never far from the reef and passes, and the breath of adults can be spotted from miles away when sea conditions are good, which makes it easier to find these sublime creatures. Keep your ears open and listen carefully to the song of the males through the boat's hydrophone!

Once the whales are spotted, the boat will approach them without disturbing them, allowing you to observe them calmly and to get them used to your presence. Finally, depending on their mood of the day and the sea conditions, you may have the opportunity to swim near them! A unique and unforgettable experience in Tahiti which will take place, if it takes place, in the greatest respect of the whales and at a certain distance of safety.

Great tour to see whales - we had the whole area to ourselves and had a swim with a mother and calf which was awesome. It's much better doing the tours down in the southern area of tahiti as there's far few other tours and boats around. Don't waste your time doing a papaette-based tour.
