Mountain biking in Athens is a great way to see the city from another perspective. Marathon is located at the north part of Attica region, approximately 35 kilometers from the city centre of Athens. The area is famous for the famous battle of Marathonas. You will find many trails to follow with your mountain bike, always under the guidance of a local guide.
Marathon is a large area combining low mountain ranges and beautiful beaches. The area is rich in culture from the ancient times till today.
You will have the chance to take a closer look at the Marathon Dam, a major symbol of modernization in Greece, the plain of Marathon where the famous Battle of Marathon took place, the starting point of the original Athens Marathon and the National Rowing centre where the sports of rowing, kayak and canoe took place during the Athens 2004 Olympic Games.

Pick up from your hotel and transfer to Agios Stefanos, at the outskirts of Athens.
Safety briefing and hop-on the bikes to begin riding. The excursion starts with a dirt road ending at a challenging uphill. Afterwards you shall take the main road until the Marathon Dam.
You will find the stream thereafter and follow it on the mountain bike, till you find the exit leading you to Marathon village.
You will then visit the starting point of the original Athens Marathon and soon after the National Rowing centre.
Afterwards you will head to the protected pine tree forest by the sea. You will exit the small forest and then head to visit the Tomb of the soldiers of the battle of Marathon.
Then using a coastal road you will end the tour in Nea Makri enjoying a coffee by the sea.
Return to Athens.
