Take kitesurfing lessons or courses in the amazing spot of Theologos, both kiters and windsurfers of all levels can fully enjoy this spot. Situated in the north of Rhodes, this spot boasts exceptional wind sport conditions, far from the touristic hubs, as this island is still a fairly quiet spot.
Many people say that Theologos is the best kitesurfing spot in all of Rhodes! The Meltem blows almost every day in the peak season (from May to October) and the water is warm which means you don’t even need a wetsuit. The water temperatures vary between 23 – 29 degrees during the peak season.
This spot is adapted to people of all levels from beginners to advanced level kiters. The water at Theologos is rather flat making it ideal for beginners. Not only that but the wind blows side-shore and side-on, again providing the perfect learning environment for kitesurfing novices, as the wind always carries you towards the beach making it safer to practice.
The regular winds blow gently in the morning between 10 – 15 knots and pick up in the afternoon to 20- 27 knots. Beginners are advised to plan their lessons in the morning instead of the afternoon.
The long (1 kilometre) beach is extremely welcoming, as you’ll never find more than 20 kiters at any one given time (on average) – leaving you with lots of space to put up your own kite. In the northern area of the beach there are very clean restrooms and you’ll find showers scattered all over the beach (like most beaches of the island).
How will your kitesurfing lesson proceed?
Choose the style of kitesurfing you’d like, would you like a group or private lesson, would you like a lesson or a course? All the instructors are IKO certified, ensuring you’ll be taught using top quality pedagogy and techniques.
Beginners will start with theory lessons enabling you to understand the basic techniques for kitesurfing, the gear, wind window and how to steer your kite.
The next step is to start with a trainee kite on the beach. You will then be taught the body-dragging techniques, water starts and you will then make your way into the water.
The school uses walkie talkies ensuring you’re in constant contact with your instructor, allowing him to guide you in real time and enabling you to progress as quickly and safely as possible.
