The sunset of Santorini is quite famous worldwide for its unique colour, but what would you do the rest of the day? Initiate yourself in kitesurfing and take up a unique sport that you will love for the rest of your life. Surf and flying in the air with the help of the kite is an incredible sensation... and that's why Jim and Manolis decided to create an idyllic kite station in Santorini, for beginners or experienced kitesurfers.
The Kite Spot
Monolithos beach can be found on the south-east side of the island. It is a quite spaceous long and flat beach with black fine-grained sand. You can expect north-east constant wind and the famous Meltemi ranging from 14 to 20 knots. The wind conditions are ideal for all riding levels from beginners to experienced kite riders. When it gets higher than 5bfr it's ideal for some wave riding and surfing. There are also available some secret spots around, with less Chop and a boat for downwind sessions and safaris.
Beginners: For the beginners there are two types of lessons offered. Either you can get an introductory course on the beach lasting 1 or 2 hours, either a full pack of 6 hours which will make you an independent rider able to go upwind and waterstart. With the 10 hours course you will become a hero kitesurfer performing even some tricks in the water.
Riders: For the intermediate riders there are private kitesurfing courses offered of 1 hour to improve your skills and work on your downwind skills, kite loop, your jumps and tricks, the wave riding, unhooked and anything else you might want.
