Activity description

Explore the coast of the Peloponnese on a guided sea kayaking tour along the seaside villages of Kalamata. Welcoming adventurers from ages 5 and up!

Kalamata is a vibrant coastal city located in the Messinia region of the Peloponnese peninsula in southern Greece. The city is renowned for its olive groves, picturesque waterfront villages, and rich history. On a sea kayaking tour, you can discover the natural beauty of this Greek city!

The trip begins at the starting point on Kalamata Beach. You'll meet the experienced guide and receive the sea kayaking equipment, including a stable and easy-to-use single or double kayak with rudders, a paddle, a life jacket, a spray deck, a waterproof jacket, and a waterproof bag. Before you enter the water, you will have a comprehensive overview of the basic principles of sea kayaking.

You'll begin paddling along the east coast of Kalamata at a relaxed pace. Along the way, the guide will share stories about this diverse region. Enjoy the beauty of the Messinian Gulf as you pass by scenic harbours with fishing boats, spectacular cliffs, and secret coves with sandy beaches. If you're lucky, you may spot different wildlife, such as the famous Caretta Caretta sea turtle!

Midway through the excursion, you'll stop at a beautiful beach for a break. Spend some time collecting fascinating seashells, sunbathing on the beach, or swimming in the crystal-clear waters. A delicious picnic lunch of freshly baked bread, handpicked vegetables, extra virgin olive oil dips, local cheese, and fruits of the season will also be served. After lunch, you'll paddle back to the starting point in Kalamata.

We had so much fun on this tour with Jorge - stunning scenery and explored coves and beaches that would be virtually inaccessible by foot or car. Overall we kayaked for about 10km but the training we had at that start meant our technique was correct and it was exhilarating rather than exhausting. Lunch stop was lovely on a secluded beach with fresh local produce.

So much fun and a great way to explore the outdoors. We saw many things you wouldn’t be able to see by car or foot. Very special tour.

A light and easy paddle, interesting, especially the Groto swim, a simple but great lunch, fresh picked from Foti's, the guide, garden.
