Activity description
Venture for half a day into one of the most beautiful canyons in Guadeloupe, the Vauchelet Canyon!
A superb canyon, very steep, requiring a good physical condition, the Vauchelet canyon offers a canyoning course composed of 6 abseils (the highest is 20 meters high), 2 avoidable jumps (7 meters high for the highest), as well as a natural slide, also optional, for a total of about 3.5 hours of sporty descent!
The Vauchelet canyon is located in the heart of the tropical forest of the Guadeloupe National Park, near Saint-Claude. During the approach walk, your guide and instructor will explain to you how this dense rainforest works at the foot of the Soufrière volcano before getting down to business at the start of the Vauchelet canyon!
The descent will start with a first jump, then a first abseil which you will do under the advice of the instructor in order to acquire the technique for the following ones. You will then have a lot of fun in the Vauchelet canyon, and in complete safety! If you are sporty enough and want to go on an adventure in the Guadeloupe National Park, the Vauchelet canyon is the right experience for you!
A 5 hours canyoning trip in the Vauchelet canyon, south of Basse-Terre, with 6 abseils (the highest being 20 meters high), 2 jumps and a superb natural slide that can be done several times or avoided.
Approach walk: 30 minutes
Time to descend the canyon: 3.5 hours
Return walk: 15 minutes
Course of events
- Welcome at the Vert Intense office with a small coffee
- Distribution of the canyoning equipment: wetsuits, helmets, harnesses, shoes, waterproof backpacks, etc. (in general, the equipment is done at the same time)
- Departure by car to get closer to the canyon, then start the approach walk: about 30 minutes to reach the starting point of the canyon
- Equipment fitting, briefing and launch for about 3.5 hours
- A first jump, then a first abseil a few minutes after the start of the descent, easy to get into the swing of things with the help of the guide, then a sequence of 5 abseils, 2 jumps, then a slide (the obstacles can always be bypassed)
- End of the canyon, then walk back to the vehicle where you will unpack
Activity requirements
Minimum age is 16 years old, but from 14 years old, if you have experience in climbing and if you are sportive, you can do the activity.
A minimum number of 6 participants is required for this activity to take place.
Special terms
The canyon of Vauchelet is very steep-sided: in case of bad weather, Vert Intense may at the last minute for security reasons change the river for the canyon of Ravine Chaude.
This activity is weather-dependent. If the weather does not allow for the activity to take place, we will contact you to reschedule or receive a full refund.
