Explore Þykkvibær beach in a buggy, a wide black sand beach in the south of Iceland, near Selfoss!
It is impossible to travel to Iceland without taking the time to venture onto one of its superb volcanic beaches, and one of the widest, at Þykkvibær. And what better way to do this than to take a buggy ride from Hella, near Selfoss, for 2 hours of adventure?
Accompanied by a qualified guide, set off on a buggy trip along the beach at Þykkvibær, the perfect way to discover this wide expanse of black sand. Departing from Hella, you will take a gravel road along the magnificent West Rangá river to Þykkvibær beach, in an easy-to-handle Polaris 1000 buggy. With plenty of stops to admire the scenery and listen to the guide's explanations about the site, you will get the most out of your trip, not least by getting your fill of speed on the stretches of black sand in front of you if you like!
With all the necessary safety equipment at your disposal, you will have an unforgettable buggy ride on Þykkvibær beach, just a 30-minute drive from Selfoss!
- Meeting with the guide at the X-Treme Buggy base
- Briefing on the activity and safety instructions, followed by equipment fitting
- Quick familiarisation with the buggies
- Departure for a 2-hour buggy ride along the black sandy beach of Þykkvibær
- Return to base, de-equipping and end of activity
Activity requirements
Minimum driving age: 16 years old
A physical valid driver’s license is compulsory.
Minors under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
A minimum number of 2 participants is required for this activity to take place.
