Treat yourself to the best whale-watching experience in Iceland by joining this speedboat tour of Skjálfandi Bay!
Iceland's whale capital, Húsavík is the starting point for whale-watching excursions in Skjálfandi Bay, as well as puffins on Lundey Island, also known as Puffin Island, in season (April to August). Sheltered by the mountains of the Tjörnes peninsula, Skjálfandi Bay is one of Iceland's most popular whale-watching areas, home to humpback and blue whales, as well as other cetaceans such as porpoises, white-beaked dolphins and minke whales.
Aboard a 12-seater RIB boat, the ideal way to search for animals in the bay, the adventure will first take you to Puffin Island in season to admire thousands of puffins, those adorable birds nicknamed the clowns of the ocean. Then it will be time for the long-awaited search for whales, which are not at all uncommon here! Protected from the cold and the water throughout the outing by special overalls, you will spend around 2 hours at sea alongside a captain and guide who will comment on the excursion.

- Meeting with the team at the Gentle Giants base 30 minutes before the start of the activity
- Fitting of waterproof safety overalls and life jackets at the base
- Briefing on the activity and safety instructions
- Board the speedboat and set off for a 2-hour excursion: first to Puffin Island (only in season) to see the puffins, then in search of whales in Skjálfandi Bay
- Return to base, de-equip and end the activity
Activity requirements
Minimum height: 130 cm
Please arrive 30 minutes before the start of the activity.
Minors must be accompanied by an adult.
A minimum number of 6 participants is required for this activity to take place.

This activity is not recommended for pregnant people or people with heart, back, mobility and/or epilepsy problems: if you would like to take part, please contact us first to confirm whether or not you can.
Wild animals are unpredictable; we cannot guarantee that you will see them during this activity: in the case you cannot see them, you will be offered a voucher for a traditional whale watching tour on oak boats free of charge, however, no refund is given.
Puffin season is usually from 15th April to 20th August: outside that time of the year, tours are whales exclusive.
