Amazing North offers you three different 4x4 excursions. The Dettifoss excursion will take you to the large lava field of the 1875 eruption in Askja, Ódáðahraun. You'll admire the amazing scenery formed by both fire and the glacial river Jökulsá á Fjöllum.
The Highlights of the North excursion will also cover this area but before you'll visit Goðafoss, the waterfall of the Gods. You'll continue to Bárðardalur along the glacial river Skjálfandafljót and visit Aldeyjarfoss. Then at the Skútustaðir Pseudocraters, you'll admire the beautiful landscape surrounding Lake Myvatn. At Dimmuborgir Lava Park where you'll see very unusual lava formations and pillars, caves, and fissures. Some believe that these rock formations are Trolls that turned to stone. The last stop before Dettifoss will be the geothermal area of Hverir.
