Location
A 5-minute drive from the centre of Reykjavik and monuments like the Harpa Concert Hall and Hallgrímskirkja Cathedral, the airfield is on the East side of Reykjavik Domestic Airport. Hengill geothermal area is Iceland's most active geothermal location and home to the country's largest renewable power plant.

Activity
A one-hour sightseeing helicopter flight and landing that takes off from Reykjavik and flies over the Hellisheiði Plateau to the Hengill Geothermal Area and neighbouring  Nesjavallavirkjun valley, experience the raw beauty of Iceland's most powerful (and unpredictable) geothermal area as you fly over the active volcano and land a safe distance to witness hot springs and boiling mud pots up close! Gaze out the window as you glide past Bláfjöll mountain range and the Kristnitökuhraun Lava Field before a scenic tour over Reykjavik, to give you a unique aerial view of Iceland's capital.

Offer Description

Sights: Hellisheiði Plateau, Hengill Geothermal Area, Nesjavallavirkjun, Hellisheiðarvirkjun, Bláfjöll mountain range, Reykjavik City, Kristnitökuhraun Lava Field and Craters.

The total duration of the tour is 50-60 minutes.
25-50 minute guided helicopter flight and a 15-minute landing by a remote geothermal area on an old volcano.

Activity requirements

Children must be accompanied by an adult - lap-held children under 1 y/o free of charge.

Weight limit 120 kg per passenger

Special terms

Departure times subject to confirmation: morning departures vary from 08:00 to 13:00, and the evening departures from 13:00 to 20:00. 

All flight times to be determined by instructor due to weather forecasting. 

Duration based on helicopter size and weather conditions - 2 person minimumper flight.
