Discover Iceland's famous volcanic beaches on a quad bike ride from Þorlákshöfn near Selfoss!
Contrasting with the blue of the Atlantic Ocean, the black sandy beaches of Thorlakshofn (Þorlákshöfn) offer a breathtaking landscape not to be missed in Iceland. In the saddle of an easy-to-handle quad bike, you will set off on a 1-hour quad bike ride along the volcanic beaches of Þorlákshöfn, Thorli beach and Hafnarskeidh, with a guide who will tell you all about the history and formation of these amazing beaches.
Just a 20-minute drive from Selfoss and 40 minutes from Reykjavík, Þorlákshöfn is a small, secluded harbour town offering a superb setting for a quad bike excursion in the heart of Icelandic nature. Equipped with a warm overall, helmet and gloves for your comfort and safety, you will set off from the town along an inland route that will quickly take you to the beautiful volcanic beaches of Þorlákshöfn. The route is very easy, as is the driving of the machines, making this quad bike ride in Þorlákshöfn accessible to all drivers with their driver's licence!

- Meeting with the guide at the Black Beach Tours base 30 minutes before the start of the activity
- Briefing on the activity, safety instructions and equipment
- Quick familiarisation with the quads
- Departure for a 1-hour quad bike ride along the black sandy beaches of Þorlákshöfn
- Return to base, de-equipping and end of activity
Activity requirements
Minimum driving age: 16 years old
A physical valid driver’s license is compulsory.
Please arrive 30 minutes before the start of the activity.
A minimum number of 2 participants is required for this activity to take place.
Special terms
A pick-up in Reykjavík can be arranged with the instructor, at an additional cost to be paid on the spot: once your booking has been confirmed, please contact the instructor to arrange your pick-up.
The price is per quad:
- if you are alone on the quad, please select 1 "Participant - alone on a ATV/QUAD" ;
- if there are 2 of you on the quad, please select 1 "Participants - sharing the same ATV/QUAD";
- for young participants under 16, please select 1 "Children and teenagers only for sharing ATV/QUAD" for each participant.
