Activity description

Set sail from Reykjavik on a whale-watching excursion!

Go in search of Minke whales and humpback whales, while also admiring the view of the mountains and islands around Reykjavik. When the weather is clear and favourable, you may even catch a glimpse of the magnificent Snaefellsjökull glacier. From Iceland's capital, you'll take in Kollafjöður, a fjord in the west of the country, and sail out into the Atlantic. Meet these marine mammals in their natural environment on your whale-watching excursion from Reykjavik!

When you arrive at Reykjavik harbour, you'll meet the Reykjavík Sailors team. They'll explain how the activity works and the safety instructions to be followed. You will be dressed in warm wetsuits and taken aboard a boat equipped with comfortable interior cabins, a bar and a wifi connection.

Your 3-hour excursion into Faxaflói Bay will be led by experienced guides who will be delighted to teach you more about these marine animals. Throughout your whale-watching tour from Reykjavik, you'll be able to see orcas, dolphins and porpoises from May to August, conditions permitting! You'll get up close and personal with Iceland's wildlife and enjoy a unique and unforgettable moment in their company.

We had about 2 hours out at sea. Saw some minke whales and a few dolphins. Unfortunately, no humpback- or other whales were spotted, but that's nature. We had a nice tour guide who was very knowledgeable and a good skipper.

Erste Tour wg. Wetter abgesagt. Nächsten Tag schon ausgebucht. Am Tag der Tour keine Wale gesehen. Erneut der Tag drauf ausgebucht. Somit 4 Versuche unternommen.

Great experience. We saw so many whales and three different types of species. Could not be better...

We absolutely loved our outing at but as we cannot control nature we weren’t so lucky and didn’t see anything

Unfortunately we did not see any whales, but we saw some dolphins. We knew upfront there is a slim chance to see whales, but they could rename the tour to "Wildlife Watching" instead of Whale Watching

Bonne balade en mer, personnel attentif et aux petits soins de ses passagers. Malheureusement pas de baleines ce jour là mais c'est une raison pour revenir en Islande une autre fois.

Was fun. Sad we didn't see many whales up close though.

Brilliant guide, great boat, skillful captain. However no one serving at the bar and the waterproof suits were a bit worn and smelly.

The captain stopped the boat when the whale was near to us, trying to follow slowly the animal

We saw humpbackwhales and even Somerset orcas! I loved the tour! Unfortunatly we had to do a 1h bustrip in a very crowded bus from the harbor to the actual boat. That was the only negative point.
