Once you've arrived at the Silfra Rift, your guide will give you a detailed briefing of the dive site and will then assist you in setting up our dive equipment. The instructors only work with high-quality BARE and Aqualung brand SCUBA equipment and APEX or Aqualung regulators.
The only requirement for this activity is to have a dry suit dive certification or 10 logged dry suit dives within the last two years and to provide written proof from a diving instructor of these 10 dry suit dives.
After you've geared up, you'll then take dive and experience Silfra’s pristine, crystal clear water. The water there has been filtered over decades volcanic basaltic rock which makes it one of the purest, you can easily take a sip during your dive!
Your scuba dives will allow you to explore the four main parts of Silfra. You'll float through Big Crack, Silfra’s narrowest section, where you'll actually dive between two continents! Then, the Silfra fissure widens until you find yourself in the majestic Silfra Hall. Near to the opening to the lake Thingvallavatn, you'll reach the Silfra Cathedral. Finally, your dive is finished in the endless visibility of Silfra Lagoon.
After this first dive, you will make your way back along a challenging but rewarding 250-meter path with your dive gear and then warm up with some hot chocolate and cookies.
On this dive, you will be able to place one hand on the North American continental plate and the other on the Eurasian continental plate. If you are a certified dry suit diver, this is a must-dive site!
