Try your hand at ice climbing on the mighty Sólheimajökull glacier with three different climbs all boasting spectacular views.

This is the ultimate opportunity to ice climb a stunning glacier while expert local guides provide helpful tips and a watchful eye. This activity is always kept in a small group with customized routes best suited for your level.

The adventure begins at the Sólheimajökull parking lot where your guide will show you how to use your glacier gear. The first part of the hike is an easy 15 minutes on a gravel road. As you begin to make your way up the glacier, your guide will find a suitable ice wall so you can practice the basic ice climbing techniques. You will then continue on to climb in three different locations on the glacier, enabling you to try three different types of climbing from easy to hard. Throughout the hike, your guide will show you the wonders of Sólheimajökull such as crevasses and moulin not to mention incredible wintery views.
