The Discover Scuba Diving course is a simple and very fun experience to discover scuba-diving.
It is the perfect introduction to the world of diving: it comprises a little bit of theory to learn about the equipment and how to use it and a real first dive with the possibility to reach a depth of 12m.
This Discover Scuba Dive course is proposed by Areamare as part of a half day boat excursion in the stunning marine park of the La Maddalena archipelago. After arriving on the dive site, you will do some exercizes with your instructor, in shallow waters where you can stand. The objective is to familiarize yourself with the equipement and try out breathing through the regulator as well as inflating and deflating your air buoyancy jacket.
After this introduction, you are ready for your underwater adventure, and you will slowly dive below the surface. Your instructor will accompany you in a beautiful diving excursion, during which you will be able to admire the fauna and flora as well as the landscapes of the La Maddalena National Park.
The meeting at the dive center is scheduled at 8am or at 2pm. On arrival, the team will give you a first initial brief and will show you your equipment (wetsuit, shorty, masks etc.). Obviously, the heavy air tanks and diving equipment will already be on the boat! You will then leave for the La Maddalena marine park which is a couple of nautical miles away.
The discovery dive itself will last approximately 1 hour comprising the time of the briefing, getting equipped, practicing some exercises in shallow waters and the actual underwater bottom time (usually 20 minutes) during which you may reach depths of up to 12m.
The complete excursion will last 3 to 4 hours.
These Discover Scuba Diving excursions can accommodate a maximum of 8 divers.Itinerary
The diving usually takes place around the island of Caprera, in well-protected coves. The exact place of the dive will be chosen depending on the then prevailing weather conditions and the planned dives for the morning.
When choosing the dive site, the team will strive to find a spot that is well-suited for first time divers, ie in coves protected from wind and waves, which will also make the time on the boat more enjoyable.Activity requirements
Participants need to be able to swim.Special terms
The activity is accessible to children from the age of 10 years old.
If you wish, you can organize to meet the team at Areamare one day before the dive. You will then get a short briefing and have the opportunity to try out the equipment.
