The Prealpi Lombarde, the beautiful mountains surrounding Lake Como, offer an incredible number of mountain bike trails to explore, all year around! The Monte Legnoncino is located on the northwest shore of the Lake and it is the small "brother" of Monte Legnone - the highest mountain in the region. Among them, the Passo San Jorio is one of the most fascinating ones!
The professional and friendly team of Lake Como Bike will ride with you during this 39Km trail covering an altitude difference of 1600 meters. The ride is considered to be of medium-easy difficulty. The tour starts from the shores of Colico, a small village situated on the Lake, and climbs up to the top of Monte Legnoncino. The 360 view that you will enjoy from the 1710 m. summit is definitely worth the ride!
The tour lasts from 2.5 to 4.5 hours depending on the physical shape of the participants.
The way up: the first segment of the ascent proposes different itineraries bringing to the Sentiero del Viandante, which after several forks and lodges will lead to to the top of Monte Legnoncino.
Once at the top you will enjoy wonderful views over the lake, to the Mount Legnone, the Adda River and the Chaivenna and Valtellina Velley. During the summer it is possible to have lunch at the summit's Chalet as well.
The descent is quite thrilling and fun feeling the breeze on your face.
The terrain (65% gravel/dirt road and 35% asphalt) will allow you to have a great grip while the only to the sound you'll be hearing is the one by your tires!
Riding with the professional guides of Lake Como Bike has great advantages: they will ensure your safety and share with you their knowledge about the mountains and the territory! Come alone, with your family and friends: it will be an awesome experience!
