As the sun starts to set, the hustle and bustle of Venice and its canals starts to fade away which makes it the perfect time to discover its evening magic!
During this private 90-minute rowing lesson in the evening, you’ll learn the basic rowing techniques in a batela coda di gambero, a rare, hand-crafted “shrimp-tailed” boat before gliding through the Grand Canal as the sun starts to disappear. These special batela coda di gambero are not gondolas; they were once the most popular boats in Venice until they began to disappear after WWII with the arrival of motorboats. Nowadays, they are a unique sighting and can be easily spotted in many Italian paintings by Carpaccio, Guardi, and Canaletto!
In the evening, the usually busy Grand Canal takes an alluring new shade as you become surrounded by a sense of peace and the glowing lights of Venice. You’ll also get to row in smaller side canals that are no longer home to the day’s busy traffic, which makes it the ideal evening excursion if you’re looking for some peace of mind in one of the most beautiful cities in the world!
For your next holiday, learn the Venetian stand-up style of rowing and discover the secret charms of Venice as the sun goes down!
