This activity takes place in Durmitor National Park from Žabljak. A UNESCO protected area, it is home to the largest canyon in Europe (Tara), 17 glacial lakes (Zminje & Zabojsko) and a black fir forest (Crna poda) - as part of a world ecological reserve.
Meet your guide at the activity base in Žabljak for this snowmobile safari through Durmitor National Park. An exciting winter activity that explores the iconic lake valley, travel up to altitudes of 2,000m towards Sinjajevina Mountain on a vertiginous route that spans over 1000km of trails. Ideal for adventurous beginners, anyone with a full, valid driving licence is free to join. Choose to drive alone or take a passenger, following a lead guide along a wild yet well-maintained woodland track. Starting at an alpine retreat high in the tree line, travel through the village of Njegovodja to Zabojsko Lake – stopping to take pictures of the impressive scenery at 1,477m. Making your ascent through the iconic black pine forest, reach the foothills of Kurozeb (1886m) - one of the highest peaks on Sinjajevina, continuing through the dense snow drifts to reach Gornja Bukovica, winding through the mountain lakes and along the roof of the Balkans – counting peaks as you race back to the activity base at the Polar Star hotel in Zabljak.
Operating during the winter season from December to April, this snowmobile safari is organised on a driver-only or driver & passenger basis. All guests wishing to drive must be +16 years old and hold a full, valid driving licence.
