Ground Rush Adventures / Skydive Swakopmund started tandem skydiving in Namibia in 1997 and to date has done over 70 000 tandem skydives in Swakopmund making it one of the largest and most organized tandem operations on the African continent, boasting an impeccable safety record. Ground Rush Adventures is a member of the Namibian Tourism Board.
Students and spectators are collected with the Ground Rush Adventures courtesy vehicles and taken to the office for paperwork, after which they are taken to the drop zone which is in the beautiful Namib Desert, adjacent to the Atlantic Ocean for tandem skydiving.
You'll take a scenic flight up to 10,000, 12,000 or 15,000 feet and see the unique Atlantic Ocean where it meets the Namib Desert Dunes. The aircraft door will open and you'll jump attached to a world-class qualified tandem instructor. You'll freefall for about 35 seconds (10,000ft) and experience the feeling of human flight. Your instructor will then open the parachute and you get to fly over the oldest desert in the world, suspended from your parachute for approximately 7 minutes and then finally the instructor lands you safely on Mother Earth.
After the experience of a lifetime, the students are taken back to their accommodation.
The office of Ground Rush Adventures / Skydive Swakopmund is located at Amanpuri Travelers B&B in town. This makes it convenient for clients as it is within walking distance of other adventure activities, curio shops, supermarkets, and restaurants. Amanpuri has a comfortable, well-stocked bar which makes the stay memorable and enjoyable.
A fleet of six courtesy vehicles is used for picking up and dropping off clients to ensure the smooth running of all activities.
Ground Rush Adventures / Skydive Swakopmund own and fly two Cessna 206 U-model aircrafts which are specifically equipped for skydiving, complete with handles and roll up doors that make it more comfortable to use for skydiving. The two aircraft are certified and maintained to the standard of the Directorate of Civil Aviation (DCA).
