Activity description

Explore the roof of the world on this 21-day Himalayan adventure!

A test of metal and physical perseverance, take the ultimate detour through the Himalaya on this three peak route to Everest Base Camp. A challenge for even the most adventurous rambler, this epic 21-day high pass hike travels through Kongma La (5,535/18,159 ft), Cho La (5420m/17,782ft) and Renjo La (5,340m/17,520ft) – summiting Kala Patthar and Gokyo Peak (5350m).

This activity takes place in Sagarmatha National Park and travels along the longest high pass trek in the Himalaya via Kongma La, Cho La and Renjo La. Journeying to Everest Base Camp, this route summits two mountains at Kala Patthar and Gokyo Peak (5350m). Highlights include Mt. Everest, Gokyo Lakes, Ngozumpa Glacier and the Lhotse-Nuptse face.

One of the most challenging treks in the Himalaya, the High Pass route is designed for experienced trekkers who can endure extreme alpine conditions and handle high altitudes over long periods. Walking for up to 8 hours a day, altitude changes, remote routes and extreme weather make this an exciting adventure for anyone looking to cut the crowds on the way to EBC!

Travelling from Kathmandu to Lukla, the 21-day Everest High Pass Trek treads along the classic route through Sagarmatha National Park – following the Dudh Koshi River. With stunning landscapes and unique cultures in high supply, this trek provides the opportunity to understand life on the roof of the world, learning more about Sherpa tradition, religion and way of life. Reaching the Kongma La Pass summit, the dramatic views of the Khumbu icefall have become an iconic milestone along the trek.

Marking the start of the Everest Base Camp (EBC) region, reaching the exciting plateau is only half of the adventure, as you climb the highest peak Kalapattar at 5545m. Crossing over Cho La, the challenging terrain really starts to make an impression on the landscape as you reach Gokyo. Renowned for its dramatic series of lakes and glaciers, appreciate 360° views from the top of Gokyo Ri and hike to the fifth lake in Gokyo for incredible views of Nepal’s largest glacier - Ngozumpa Glacier. The final part of the trek follows the Renjo La Pass – offering diverse culture, cuisine and architecture in the lesser-known Khumbu villages of Marlung and Nangpa  - returning to Lukla for your return flight to Kathmandu.

Accommodation & Catering
A traditional all-inclusive package with shared overnight accommodation in tea houses, all meals and refreshments are included in the price of the trip.

Due to the remote access route along the High Pass, you will also be trekking on minor trails and difficult terrain including snow or scrambling sections. A high level of physical fitness along with previous mountain trekking is required.  Due to the seasonal nature of this environment, this activity runs from September- November and March-May only.
