Start your day off right and inhale a breath of fresh air by embarking on this SUP excursion with the trustworthy team at Glacier Kayaks. You'll meet your knowledgable and friendly guide at base to get a quick briefing on what lies ahead. From here, the team will take you to Lake Mapourika where the fun will begin!
This trip is both joyful and educational at the same time as your qualified guide is very knowledgable about the area. You'll have the opportunity to learn as you go along, acquiring interesting information about the region itself, the breathtaking glaciers, the immense mountains surrounding you and the kiwi conservation of the area. The trip will last approximately 2 hours, tailored to your SUP level, so you won't be left behind!
Lake Mapourika is located on the West Coast of New Zealand's South Island. It lies about 9 km's North of Franz Josef Glacier - not far from the Westland Tai Poutini National Park.
Morning excursions are recommended to experience the glassy lake in best conditions.
Due to its alpine mountains and temperate rainforest, weather conditions can change dramatically with prevailing westerly winds bringing 5 metres of annual rainfall. Southern hemisphere summer months offer 17 hours of sunlight and top temperatures of 25°.
Glacier Kayaks offer courtesy transport from and back to the town.
