Activity description

Discover Abel Tasman at your own pace on this kayak and bush walk combo.

Swap your paddle for your walking shoes on this kayak and hike in Abel Tasman National Park. Offering three distinctive trails for you to choose, take in all the highlights of the southern Abel Tasman, experiencing the beautiful Astrolabe Islands and leaving the tide line in search of stunning vantage points up to Bark Bay.

This activity is run & operated from Marahau and travels to the Astrolabe Islands in Abel Tasman National Park. Travelling by sea kayak and exploring on foot guests can choose from three distinct bush walks that vary in length (Observation Beach, Anchorage or Bark Bay).

Meet your guide at the activity base for this full day kayak and bush walk combo in Abel Tasman National Park. Renowned for its iconic hiking trails and coastal sanctuaries, experience the magic of the Astrolabe Islands up close on a kayak and hike journey - choosing one of the below-walking options to accompany your 2-hour guided kayak:

Observation Beach: Discover clear streams, native bush and incredible views over Anchorage and the Astrolabe on a guided hike. Sail back to base if conditions allow.

Pitt Head Nature Loop: Walk along Anchorage Beach to the beautiful Pitt Head loop. Allow plenty of time to take in the view from Te Pukatea Bay, a hidden gem in the Abel Tasman. Walk back to Anchorage for your Water Taxi pick up back to Marahau.

River Falls: Walking unguided from Torrent Bay the track climbs steadily to Falls River, which is crossed by a suspension bridge. The 47-metre bridge is a real highlight of this trip. Dropping back to sea level to Bark Bay, get picked up by Water Taxi and return to Marahu by sea kayak.

Operating three different kayak & hike options ranging in length and difficulty, all activities include two-hours of light paddling, supported by a purpose-built kayak base, with free hot showers, free wifi, free equipment storage & client transporters. Please note return transport varies.
