Lead the line up with progressive surfing lessons on Matakana's pumping coast.
Offering a selection of intermediate surfing packages along Omaha Bay, coastal specialists, Saltwater Eco offer the barrel chaser a chance to experience the Northeastern shore's sweet spot with tailored sessions and course bundles on Pakiri's curved sandbank and the exposed shoreline of Omaha beach.
Offering a good combination of beach and reef between the two popular surfing locations, Omaha bay is situated on New Zealand's northeastern peninsular - region renowned for its clean, consistent green waves and offshore westerly winds. A short drive across the coastline, the Matakana coast is known for its long uncrowded beaches and balanced beach break that makes it perfect for practising rights and lefts, drop-ins and tricks.
The kind of location that separates the pros from the players, surfers can get clean lines all day long thanks to the combination breaks that stretch across Omaha beach to Pakiri from low-high tide throughout the day. The perfect spot for consistent 8-hours of stoke from dawn to dusk, the best swell direction travels along the northeast with clean groundswells providing the warmest sub-tropical waters and a huge 300° swell window!
Running during New Zealand's summer season, surfing lessons along the Matakana coast are available from November to May - a time of year where you can expect the warmest and calmest waters (20- 23°C). Whilst lessons run during summer, this region is frequented by locals all year long.
These intermediate lessons are suitable for regular surfers with a good practical skill set and technical knowledge.Working in small groups, lesson times are based on tides, conditions, swell and ability, each lesson is designed to help tackle problem areas and offer solid surf advice from their team of ISA-certified instructors. Using the latest real-time photo and video equipment to identify your areas for improvement, each lesson will provide you with action points to help build your confidence and improve your style/performance.
